CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
§ § 1-13.5-501; 1-13.5-303, C.R.S.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, and, particularly, to the eligible electors of the Barnes Center Metropolitan District, El Paso, County, Colorado (the “District”).
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election will be held on May 2, 2023, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. At that time, three directors will be elected for four-year terms and two directors will be elected for two-year terms.
Eligible electors of the Barnes Center Metropolitan District interested in serving on the board of directors may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form from the District Designated Election Official (“DEO”) by email request; Kevin.W@wsdistricts.co or by calling (719) 447-1777.
The DEO is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The deadline to submit a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form is the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on Friday, February 24, 2023. If the DEO determines a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form is not sufficient, the form may be amended prior to 5:00 p.m. on February 24, 2023 (not less than 67 days prior to the election). Earlier submittal is encouraged to allow for time to cure an insufficient form. An Affidavit of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate must be submitted to the office of the DEO by the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on Monday, February 27, 2023.

- via USPS to: WSDM – District Managers, P. O. Box 1479, Colorado Springs, CO 80901
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, an application for an absentee ballot shall be filed with the DEO no later than the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on April 25, 2023.
BARNES CENTER METROPOLITAN DISTRICT

Barnes Center Metropolitan District has an existing mill levy of 30.000 mills obligated to pay off Debt (see annual report) and 10.000 mills obligated to support the Operations and Maintenance of the District. At this time, there is not discussion on issuing any future mill levies. The Debt mill levy is set to stay in place until the obligated debt is paid off, current maturity date is set for December 1, 2052, and there are currently no anticipated increases or decreases.
At this time, there is no discussion on any additional Long Term Financial Obligations anticipated by the District. Here is a summary of the District’s current outstanding Long Term Financial Obligations:

The Barnes Center Metropolitan District main function is to collect tax revenue to pay off the debt obligation and provide operations and maintenance within the District Boundaries. At this time, the District is not anticipating providing any other primary functions. The District does not own any property.
